About hsadvisor
hsadvisor is an independent, encouraging guide to home education — how to start, how to choose a method, and how to keep it working. It reads like a trusted friend at the kitchen table, because that’s the job: reassuring for the overwhelmed, useful for the experienced, honest about the hard parts.
We are not a curriculum vendor and not an ideology. We don’t sell boxed programs, we don’t take a side in the method wars, and we are never “us-vs-the-schools.” Home education suits many families exceptionally well and others not at all — our guides say so, plainly.
1.How we stay independent
hsadvisor is free to read thanks to a small circle of supporters and partners. The arrangement is simple and non-negotiable:
- Supporters never see guidance before it’s published.
- Supporters never shape, suggest, or veto what we write.
- Sponsored placements are always visibly labelled — wordmarks on the board, never words in our mouths.
- We link to organisations and resources because they’re useful, never because they paid.
2.How we write
Every guide is drafted, argued over, and reviewed by the hsadvisor editors — people who have burned a first month or two themselves. We favour the honest version over the tidy one: real costs, real time demands, and the parts nobody puts in the brochure.
