Royal Spy is the exciting adventure sequel to Marjorie M. Watkins' Rotaida and the Runestone. In the first book Rotaida finds her identity as a royal princess but not all are happy with this discovery. There remains a work for her to complete which lends not only to saving the empire but also to her relationship with a certain half brother, Prince Charles. When Rotaida is kidnapped by a witch she soon learns of a Saxon army plot to make a sneak attack on Francia. The story takes you through many twists and turns to a happy ending. The thing that stands out to me is the bravery and good character of Rotaida. Here is a young woman who demonstates enduring love for country, family, and outcasts. This is a book to savor, not speed read. I think you will enjoy, as I did, Royal Spy.
