I had a fantastic college experience on a full scholarship to a place I was obviously meant to be. After finishing my graduate study, I began working as a college admission officer, and have worked for excellent colleges. It is really a joy to help students move towards their futures with confidence.
At the first college at which I worked, there were many homeschoolers in my assigned territory. Since I knew several homeschooling families, I quickly became the college's "expert" on helping homeschool families through the process. I carried on this tradition as I moved on to other colleges, encouraging these institutions to seek out strong homeschool candidates for admission. I felt like God had given me a passion for helping to "level the playing field" for students who did not have access to good college counseling services.
In the last two years, this passion has blossomed into Educational Advising Ministries (EAM), a service that provides resources and advice for college and career planning. I love working with both support groups and individual families. I've created tools to helps students assess what they were built to do, how to choose a college, and how to approach the job hunt. Through the new online College Planning Seminar, I've provided a course that acts as a college counselor for any homeschool student, especially those who want their faith to be an important part of their college planning. It is also meant to be a resource that EAM can provide in partnership to support groups for use with all of their members (a great benefit of membership).
I am constantly seeking new tools to help students approach the future with confidence.
All the best,
Aaron
