A Reason For Handwriting: Manuscript B--Student Worktext, Grade 2The pages of this fun workbook feature manuscript handwriting based on scripture verses. Verses are chosen not only for the correct letter combinations, but also for inspirational content. The treehouse is transposed onto the beginning of each line of the manuscript ruled pages and is used as a guide for students to learn the proper sizing and spacing of letters. After the introductory review lessons are complete, students begin a schedule of lessons that include daily writing practice of selected words in the "Scripture of the week." On Day 4 the student writes the complete verse and then on Day 5 they copies it onto a border sheet from the back of the workbook. Border sheets are outlined with wonderful black-line drawings and graphics that students can color to decorate their handwritten verse. They are wonderful "treats" for grandparents or shut-ins, aunts and uncles or friends to receive in the mail. Your young student will have an opportunity to spread the gospel and send a smile to someone they love. Note: Only use this handwriting workbook, if your student is not quite ready to transition to cursive at this time. |

Writing Strands Level 2, Grade 2This group of assignments in the series called "Writing Strands" is designed to give homeschooled second level students a grounding in the very complicated process of giving others their thoughts in written form. Much of the planning and detail of the writing process is presented here. These assignments are written for you to teach from. This is the only level in which the expectation is that the child cannot work alone. Most seven year olds are too inexperienced to work independently. But, rather than increase your work, this writing process should make it easier for both you and your child to meet the demands for student writing skill. Although "Writing Strands" was not written for grade-level working, this Level Two book has been designed for students who are at what is known as the second grade level. When a child independently can write the sentence, "The dog is big." that child is ready for this level. Scope & Sequence: This level covers adjectives, listing, reporting, paragraphing, ordering actions, grouping and variety, story writing, convincing, writing dialogue, letter writing, personal narration, comparing, greeting cards, |
