History of US
Imagine- history books that kids actually enjoy reading! Unlike most dry textbooks, this series makes American history come alive for 8-15 year olds with witty storytelling that includes off beat, little known events, fascinating personality profiles; colorful graphics and maps; and plenty of humor. For these updated and expanded editions, Hakim worked with teachers and students in text classrooms across the country. Somewhat biased at times (for example, Ronald Reagan is portrayed negatively) but can be balanced with other material.

Beautiful Feet Study Guides
Ancient History is designed to acquaint the student with Ancient History using literature or "living books." As in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "There is probably no history, only biography." History is truly the stories of people, and using biographies and historical literature will make history come alive. Due to the scarcity of original source literature which is appropriate for junior and senior high level, this course will concentrate on literature which is written about this era.
The Early American and World History is the one so many of you have been waiting for! Rea's eighth guide features several of our Genevieve Foster titles as the foundation for this rich study. Books by other Newbery Award winning authors are also used, including James Daugherty, Esther Forbes and Jean Lee Latham. This comprehensive study, beginning in the 15th century and stretching to the U.S. Civil War will be a memorable and insightful experience. As with other advanced Beautiful Feet guides, teacher notes are included. Designed as a one-year course for Junior High. Utilizes America's Providential History by Mark Beliles and Stephen McDowell and the D'Aulaire books. Older students may also want to utilize Teaching and Learning America's Christian History by Rosalie Slater, The Christian History of the Constitution by Verna Hall, and The Light and the Glory by Peter Marshall. These additional materials (as well as materials that may not be mentioned) will need to be purchased or borrowed for use with the study guide.
Geography Through Literature is intended to accompany the Holling C. Holling series. Just as the old Indian guides of America's past led explorers through territory, not dictating every side trip, but opening up possibilities to the traveler, so should these guides lead but not dictate. Holling's books are so full of wonderful things that it would be burdensome to explore them all. If though, one is mainly pursuing a history course through these books, then it it recommended that the historical figures mentioned in the text be researched and studied more thoroughly. If one's main goal is a science course then the possibilites for pursuing biology, natural science, geography, ecology of various bodies of water, and more are unlimited. Puruse these things at your own discretion, keeping in mind your main goal. Because of the richness of these books it is possible to encompass a broad course in history, geography, and science. Since the text is challenging in some instances, oral comprehension and vocabulary can be incorporated as well. It is suggested that intermediate students and above keep a notebook or journal recording their finding on various research projects suggested through the course. Students should keep a glossary of terms at the back of the notebook, which will prove useful for reference through the course. Those wishing to complete the course in one year should complete approximately one lesson per week.
Our Medieval history course begins with the dramatic events surrounding the era of Magna Charta in 1215, progresses through the Reformation and Renaissance and concludes with Elizabethan England in the early 1600's. Newly revised and expanded, the guide now features separate study notes for both junior and senior high. Comprehension questions, vocabulary, geography and character studies are included now for both grade levels. Teacher notes are also included to check up on your childs progress. Student's will delight in these dramatic and heroic tales, many by classic authors, such as Mark Twain, Geneveive Foster, Shakespeare, Chaucer, Charles Kingsley, Sir Walter Scott and many more. This is a non-consumable study guide. It may not be reproduced.

Streams of Civilization
Most history textbooks are written from a secular viewpoint, but this introductory text is different! Providing a comprehensive look at Western, African, and Asian civilizations from creation to 1620, it affirms the biblical view of creation (though it discusses evolution) and gives your kids insight into other cultures and religions from a Christian perspective. Includes vocabulary questions, exercises, maps, and black-and-white illustrations. Ideal for grades 9 and up. 410 pages, hardcover from Christian Liberty Press.
Volume 2 covers the events of world history with an emphasis on European and American culture since the Reformation. Each chapter traces a particular theme within a particular time period. The principal themes include the history of Christianity and philosophy with their results in culture, politics, economics, society, science, and technology. A time line at the beginning of each chapter will help the reader to see the chronological relationships between the events discussed in the text. Throughout the text, particular points of interest, focusing on specific individuals and events, provide further information. Maps and photographs, as well as artwork of a particular period, add to the overall impact of the book. Thought-provoking questions given at the end of each chapter will encourage students to think through the Christian implications of the material and its relevance for today's world. In addition, a list of important words and concepts at the end of the chapter will aid the student in focusing on the most significant ideas discussed in the chapter. Suggested projects can also enliven the topics being covered as a particular activity is carried out by an individual or a class. A reading list is provided to suggest resources for further study; an extensive index will also enable the student to use the book for reference in years to come.
