Voyages in English
"Voyages in English" brings together the major areas of the language arts curriculum into a flexible format for teaching. General topics include writing; grammar, correct usage and mechanics; dictionary and library skills; speaking and listening skills; and literature. While these skills may be taught in isolation, their mastery as a whole is essential for successful language development. Components of the textbook are designed to help the teacher reinforce this integration of the language arts. Chapter titles in the first section of "Voyages in English 4" include: "Descriptive Writing," "Learning to Write a Paragraph," "Improving the Paragraph," "Exploring Writing," "More to Explore About Writing," "Writing Letters," "Speaking and Listening Skills," and "Library and Dictionary Skills." The chapter titles in the second section include: "Sentences," "Nouns," "Pronouns," "Adjectives," "Verbs," "Adverbs," and "Punctuation and Capitalization." The textbook includes a total of 81 lessons outside of the introductory chapter on "Descriptive Writing." This book is to be used in conjunction with "Voyages in English 4: Teacher's Edition."
