"Voyages in English" brings together the major areas of the language arts curriculum into a flexible format for teaching. General topics include writing; grammar, correct usage and mechanics; dictionary and library skills; speaking and listening skills; and literature. While these skills may be taught in isolation, their mastery as a whole is essential for successful language development. Components of the textbook are designed to help the teacher reinforce this integration of the language arts. The chapter titles of the first section of the textbook "Voyages in English 3" include: "Personal Narrative," "Writing a Paragraph," "Making the Paragraph Better," "Writing a Report," "More to Explore About Writing," "Writing Letters," "Speaking and Listening Skills," and "Dictionary and Library Skills." The chapter titles of the second section of the book include: "Sentences," "Nouns," "Pronouns," "Verbs," "Adjectives," "Adverbs," and "Punctuation and Capitalization." There are 78 lessons aside from the introductory chapter on "Personal Narrative." This book is to be used in conjunction with "Voyages in English Teacher's Edition.
