  • Writing Strands
An Introduction to the wonders of verbal communication - Level 1 of a complete writing program for homeschoolers. This first experience with Writing Strands is designed for the very young children, before they can write anything at all. It is an introduction for parents to the fun that can be had helping their children learn that language use can be an exciting and rewarding experience. The exercises in this booklet are arranged in the order of difficulty. It is not necessary that they all be completed. Start your children at the place which seems most appropriate for them. The exercises may be approached from many levels. Games played when the children are three can continue to be played until they are seven or eight and still provide worthwhile learning experiences. Scope & Sequence for Level 1: The package of the Level 1 book and the tape for parents is designed to help children between the ages of 3 and 8 to learn that oral language is fun to use. And that's all it does--teach the fun of word use. Through games, projects, and programs, it encourages children to expect that the fun in oral word use will carry over to written work--an essential ingredient for writing skill.
