Learning Language Arts Through Literature, Grade 6, Teacher TanThe Tan Book is designed for 6th grade students. Features are as follows: 36 weekly lessons divided into easy-to-use daily plans; 4 book studies; 2 units on library and research paper; integrated language arts lessons including grammar, spelling, higher-order thinking and study skills; teacher friendly with little or no teacher preparation needed; review activities follow most lessons providing additional skill practice; assessments help the teacher evaluate student's progress.Sixth grade students mature in their language arts skills through 36 lessons. Strong in dictation, they encourage expressive, creative writing. The study of suffixes and prefixes lays groundwork for skills needed at the jr/sr high levels. Passages from great literature encourages the reading of timeless classics. Reviews after most lessons and assessments aid teachers in identifying strengths and weaknesses. All literature passages are contained in The Tan Book. Additional books utilized in this level include Little House in the Big Woods, Bambi, Kidnapped, The Hiding Place, Prince Caspian, The Swiss Family Robinson, Robinson Crusoe, Where the Red Fern Grows, The House at Pooh Corner, The Wind in the Willows, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Invincible Louisa. |

McGuffey's Eclectic Readers Primer through the Sixth Reader 7 VolumesThis revision of McGuffey's Eclectic Readers features materials applicable to the various reading levels. Many of the stories, poems, and pictures appear as they did in the first edition, but with a more readable print and also a different layout. Each of the volumes is geared to a particular reading level, and provides vocabulary, phonics and cursive writing exercises. These are based on the original readers, with some minor revisions to make the language more understandable for the current times. Stories and poems have been added. There is a primer and six volumes of readers, each reader progressing to a higher grade level. Could be utilized for entire school experience. |
