Early American HistoryThis study guide is designed for the student of American History who desires to understand the hand of God in the American saga. Seeing God's hand in the events of the past gives us vision and hope for the future. We have therefore carefully selected literature that best embodies this truth. This guide has also incorporated the Principle Approach, which is a method of applying Biblical principles to every area of life. This approach was developed by Verna Hall and Rosalie Slater through their books entitled, The Christian History of the Constitution and Teaching and Learning America's Christian History. We have chosen to use a somewhat simplified version of the Principle Approach in presenting the material for this level and suggest the use of America's Providential History by Mark Beiles and Stephen McDowell. We have introduced the First Five Principles of the Principle Approach in this study. These are included at the back of the study guide. This course is designed to incorporate a simple notebook approach. Each student uses the notebook to record reports, student maps, Scripture verses, illustrations, principles, and so on. Course Outline: The Vikings; Marco Polo; Columbus; First English Colony, Jamestown; The Pilgrims, Plymouth; The Colonial Era; Pre-Revolutionary Era; The American Revolution; The Louisiana Purchase; The Civil War. Grades 4-6 |
